Lamentations 2 devotional, meaning, explained, summary
For a book to be called Lamentations, you have to imagine the amount of complaint and the level of detriment. I did some research about the book of Lamentations— regarded to be written by Jeremiah. But this post itself is on Lamentations Chapter 2, verse 1-22. It can also be tagged as a revitalizing devotional to all the problems you may face. If I am right, during the time of Jeremiah, Israel and Judah were subject to the sovereignty of Mesopotamia-Babylon and Egypt— especially Babylon. This was back then in antiquity.
The book of Lamentations shows the despair of Jeremiah over the prevailing situation in Israel and Judah that must have felt overwhelming, considering the kind of God they had was supposed to have protected them; He didn't. But just like we saw in Exodus, God has a relationship with his people that has faced tribulations and trials even before the time of Exodus and even till today in the 21st century AD. The book explains the anger of Jehovah/Yahweh— in a way that it had never been seen before, total negligence of His peoples.
But why did God leave his people to the elements to face battery at the hands of Egyptians and Persians? The same reason you eventually face the consequences of the crimes you commit. You get what you deserve for doing the wrong thing, for doing sinister things.
"2 Without pity the Lord has swallowed up
all the dwellings of Jacob;
in his wrath he has torn down
the strongholds of Daughter Judah.
He has brought her kingdom and its princes
down to the ground in dishonor.
3 In fierce anger he has cut off
every horn[c][d] of Israel.
He has withdrawn his right hand
at the approach of the enemy.
He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire
that consumes everything around it.
4 Like an enemy he has strung his bow;
his right hand is ready.
Like a foe he has slain
all who were pleasing to the eye;
he has poured out his wrath like fire
on the tent of Daughter Zion.
5 The Lord is like an enemy;
he has swallowed up Israel.
He has swallowed up all her palaces
and destroyed her strongholds.
He has multiplied mourning and lamentation
for Daughter Judah. . . ."– Lamentations 2 devotional, lamentations 2 kjv, lamentations 2 meaning, lamentations 2 explained, lamentations 2 summary
-In this great distress, Jeremiah spoke and spoke about the abominations that had befallen Israel and Judah, then he said something that resonated in my spirit and soul. In the presence of all distress and unbearable calamities, he instructs that we continue to pray. God accepts worship— not that He needs it, God recognizes virtues and His grace in us through his son, Jesus Christ. But also, God listens to prayers.-
Prayer is the key, prayer is the key, prayer is the master key, Jesus started with prayer, and ended with prayer, prayer is the master Key. This is a song I heard from a very close companion. Say these prayers with me and pray on them as quickly and sincerely as you can: Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, holy spirit convey all my prayers and heart desires through the blood of Jesus to the seats of heaven. Holy Spirit, cause the anger of God to afflict me no more. And let the anger of God afflict Israel no more. Amen. Read Lamentations 2: 1-22.
